Most science learning takes place outside classrooms in Science Museums and other informal science settings. One day of this course involves a visit to the space science exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History and Hayden Planetarium.

Your assignment:

Visit pertinent exhibits at a suitable Museum. Examples could be the American Museum of Natural History-Hayden Planetarium (New York City); National Air and Space Museum (Washington, DC); Udvar-Hazy Center (Chantilly, VA); Kennedy Space Center (FL); or similar institution.

Write a 3 – 4 page review of the exhibits’ highlights; suitability for class visits; online resources, including url and links to educational materials; and  other useful information.

Please include a discussion about what you expect your students to learn through this type of informal science experience, compared with ‘normal classroom’ studies of the same topics and facts.
