Carl Brenner of the Borehole Research Group (BRG) at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory has created 6 educational “graphic novels” based on research and life aboard the “JOIDES Resolution.” These “Tales of the Resolution” are available as pdf downloads at

In the final E2C for the 2011-2012 school year, we’ll chat with Carl about how educational graphic novels are created and network about effective use in the classroom.

Carl Brenner is a Technical Services Specialist with the Borehole Research Group (BRG) at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. He has an impressive resume of scientific and engineering accomplishments from involvement with ocean and land-based drilling. Driven by his artistic interests, Carl create the 6 “Tales of the Resolution” graphic novels based on research, re-fitting, and life aboard the “JOIDES Resolution” drilling ship.
